Sitting outside of a bakery, a couple seemed in deep conversation. I usually don’t approach such couples for a photograph, but against my better judgment, I did. Shane (next post) and Megan said sure, with little reservation. As usual, I asked them not to pose – to just be themselves.

As I brought the camera to my eye, Megan’s face went into a huge, beautiful, toothy smile – just what I endeavor to avoid. But for an instant before the smile, I caught this shot. It was as if her face had to wind up to get the mouth open.

I love it!
