Another Wednesday, time to look at someone else’s work. And this time, a true master.
Steve McCurry, in my book, has made some of THE most inspiring portraits. Perhaps his name is not familiar to you. But I bet that The Afghan Girl is. See her HERE. And please, take a couple of minutes to read the text. Then take another minute to look at the Then and Now iterations again. Carl Sandberg wrote, "Often the faces speak what words can never say". These faces speak volumns.
Steve McCurry’s website is HERE.
He is the author of one of my favorite quotes: “If you wait, people will forget your camera and the soul will drift up into view”. So often I get nervous, and rush an encounter with a stranger. I must keep McCurry’s quote in mind.
Now, this is not hot off the press. In June, 2011, the Catherine Hall blog had brief comments by McCurry. They are insightful, and worth the read. See it HERE.
Enjoy.
