No, despite the similar names, these two are not connected. I met Al at my favorite Farmer’s market. He was setting up a booth for selling flowers. And like most of the vendors, he works under a nearly white tent. I love it! The street is in harsh sunlight that bounces around. And Al is under, what amounts to, a huge reflector/softbox. How can the light not be diffused?

I met Alex in Gainesville last weekend. The day before the Florida vs South Carolina game was crazy, only to get worse the next morning when ESPN Game Day came to town. Anyway, Alex was a parking attendant (bouncer?) at a near campus restaurant. Keeping wayward drivers (like me) away was a full time job, and I only had a few seconds to shoot before he sprang into action.
