Following up with the previous post, three men were at an outside table. Giuseppe was on my right side and Domenico was on the right. Each immediately bought into the portrait thing, the fellow in the middle…, not so much. In fact, I’m sure that he would have declined had it not been for his two buddies. When I turned toward him, he sheepishly asked, “Do I have to give my name?”. I said “of course not, I am asking permission, and you don’t HAVE to do anything. But I usually ask for a first name”.
“But if you tell me a false name, I will never know”. Then Domenico spoke up and said, “Paul Newman. His name is Paul Newman!” That loosened things up and I got a few shots.

Domenico smiled and laughed the entire time. These shots reflect their respective demeanor. For me, this entire encounter is the way that Street Portraiture should be – animated, and a bit fun for all.
As an aside, if I were to fib about my name, I would choose the name of someone who is alive. But that’s just me.
